Celebrity Traitors UK Star Ruth Codd Reveals Second Leg Amputation

Irish actress Ruth Codd, known for ‘Celebrity Traitors U.K.’, is recovering from her second leg amputation. The 29-year-old star announced the news on social media. She previously had her right leg amputated at age 23.

Codd shared an update on her TikTok account on Wednesday, November 26. She recorded a video from her parents’ home in Ireland. “I’ve just had my second below-the-knee amputation,” Codd stated.

She approached the difficult news with her characteristic humor. Codd joked there was “a lot to process for everyone involved.” She captioned the video, “No legs, who am I? #paralympics2026.”

Codd first injured her right leg playing football at 15. The injury did not heal, leading to her first amputation years later. She underwent multiple operations over eight years before the procedure.

“I injured myself at 15 and didn’t have my leg amputated until I was 23,” Codd told Teen Vogue in October 2022. “Those eight years were operation after operation.” She reflected on learning that life does not always go as planned.

Codd has consistently spoken positively about her initial amputation. She called it “the best thing I’ve ever done.” She noted her life truly “took a turn” after the surgery.

“I spent many years trying to revive something that no longer worked,” Codd explained. “The first step I remember taking with my prosthetic leg, the first thing I said was, ‘Oh, it doesn’t hurt anymore.'” She had grown accustomed to constant pain.

Codd gained recognition on TikTok. Casting directors for Netflix’s ‘The Midnight Club’ discovered her online. The series was produced by Mike Flanagan.

In the 2022 series, Codd portrayed Anya, a terminally ill amputee. She later reunited with Flanagan for his 2023 series ‘The Fall of the House of Usher.’

Codd has discussed the importance of disability representation in media. “There’s not much representation of people with disabilities in media today,” she told Teen Vogue. She emphasized that Anya was portrayed as human, not defined solely by her disability.
