CD Projekt RED has confirmed with Digital Foundry that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will officially support NVIDIA’s DLSS technology.
The game’s DLSS implementation is powered by NVIDIA’s Tensor Cores. Players can choose between Performance and Quality modes in both Handheld and Docked modes.
In Docked mode, the game can run at 30 FPS at 1080p in Quality mode, while Performance mode bumps the frame rate to 40 FPS at 1080p. The use of DLSS results in smoother gameplay with detailed visuals. In Handheld mode, the game behaves similarly, but Performance mode scales down the resolution to 720p to maintain 40 FPS.
This confirmation suggests a strong likelihood that other games on the Switch 2 might also support DLSS or similar AI upscaling technologies. However, the decision to implement DLSS ultimately rests with the game developers. Post-launch patches may further improve the game’s performance.
Performance Expectations
The confirmation of DLSS support is a positive sign for Switch 2 gamers. It indicates that the console is capable of handling demanding games with advanced graphics features. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is set to release on June 5, coinciding with the Switch 2’s launch date in several regions.
