Riot Games dropped some news this past Monday, and it’s a big deal for competitive League of Legends. They announced the CBLOL and LCS leagues would become one again, just like they were back in 2024. But this move makes you wonder: who really wins from this change?
Before this, the end of CBLOL in 2024 kicked off the League of The Americas (LTA) era. That gave teams from Brazil more chances to compete internationally. Brazilian squads certainly proved they could go head-to-head with North American teams. Most of them, anyway. FlyQuest often stood a cut above the rest.
However, with the leagues now merging back, the spots for international tournaments will reset to the 2024 rules. This means Brazil will send only one team to each major event. Here’s how the spots break down:
- First Stand: CBLOL gets one team; LCS also gets one.
- MSI: CBLOL sends one team; LCS gets two spots.
- Worlds: CBLOL secures one spot; LCS earns three for the 2026 championship.

The LCS will get three slots for the 2026 World Championship. This is despite recent standings showing a strong showing from Brazilian teams. If you look at the top four teams in the Americas, two are from Brazil:
- FlyQuest
- Vivo Keyd Stars
- 100 Thieves
- RED Canids
This ranking comes from the LTA Championship. FlyQuest won that event on Sunday, the 28th, beating Vivo Keyd Stars 3-1 in the final match. RED Canids also fought hard for their fourth-place spot, defeating Shopify Rebellion to claim it.
These recent results truly impressed the Brazilian community. Even so, Riot decided to go back to the 2024 slot distribution. This means Brazil will once again need to prove its strength to earn more spots in international competitions.
