Cases of Zika virus reported in Lucknow

New Delhi: The health department has taken action after confirming two cases of Zika virus in the state capital Lucknow after the cities of Kanpur and Kannauj in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow Chief Medical Officer Dr Manoj Agrawal said that a man and a woman living in Hussainganj and LDA colonies have been confirmed to be infected with Zika virus.

Following the confirmation of the infection in the test reports of both the patients, the health department has intensified the steps to prevent this infection.

Dr. Agarwal said that after confirmation of Zika virus infection in 2 patients, a large number of samples have been directed to be taken and tested in Lucknow from Friday.

Later, health department teams arrived in both the areas and started anti-larvae activities. In addition, the people around were also informed about the prevention of Zika virus infection.
