Portuguese top-flight football club Casa Pia is donating its share of recent Cup match ticket revenue to a smaller, regional club to support a former player recovering from a serious traffic accident.
The beneficiary is ‘Putra’, a former player for Ançã, a club from Cantanhede. Putra sustained severe injuries in an accident in May 2023.
The donated funds are specifically earmarked to assist with his ongoing recovery. Casa Pia made the announcement on social media, emphasizing solidarity with the former player.
The club’s CEO, Tiago Lopes, also presented Ançã officials with a Casa Pia jersey autographed by the squad, bearing ‘Putra’s name.
This gesture came hours after Casa Pia secured its spot in the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup. In its social media message, Casa Pia stated, “Putra, we are all with you.”
