Carvalhal explodes: “I ask for more respect for Celta”

Celta was eliminated from the Cup in a highly controversial match, in which the olívico team claimed two penalties in their favour, one of them in the final stretch of regulation time and another in extra time. Carvalhal bit his tongue at the press conference after the meeting, even asking the journalists present to let him go because he did not feel like talking.

Controversy: “I don’t talk about refereeing and the club never officially talks about refereeing, but I ask that there be more respect for Celta. I have to stay true to my word, I am not going to say one thing one day and another another. If I say that I am not talking about arbitration, today I am not going to talk either. The club does not speak either. You are journalists, put together the images of this match and those of the previous one against Sevilla and draw conclusions. The minimum I demand is respect for Celta. A picture is worth a thousand words. It’s not worth saying anything, I have to be consistent with myself.

Assessment: “It was a highly contested game, I congratulate my players because we landed on our feet, we fought until the last second of the game, even when we were outnumbered and without a goalkeeper. I also congratulate Espanyol because they passed the tie. I don’t have much to say about this match, in the second half we gave up a little more than we wanted because we had to push a little more. From 1-1, the game split. We had that opportunity from Larsen that could have sealed the game, but… I don’t really want to talk about this game, not because I lost, because it could be lost, but to lose like this… Please respect me, ask me a question or two and let me go. I have to do my job and respond to whatever they want, but if they can let me go now, the faster the better.”
