Carter, who made Bolt lose gold, tests positive again

Nesta Carter, whose positive for doping at the 2008 Beijing Olympics caused the Jamaican 4×100 relay team, led by Usain Bolt, to lose the gold medal, has tested positive again and her case will be examined in a hearing to be held. next October 14.

The Jamaican newspaper The Gleaner reveals that the 35-year-old sprinter is back in problems related to doping two months after announcing his withdrawal from the competition due to health problems.

Last August, Carter released a statement to explain that his health was deteriorating and that the medication he needed was in violation of anti-doping regulations.

The president of the independent anti-doping disciplinary court, Kent Gammon, confirmed that the case, a positive in a doping control, will be studied in a telematic hearing to be held on October 14. The other two members are Japheth Ford and Heron Dale.

Carter has a personal best of 9.78 seconds in 100 meters – made at Rieti in 2010 – which places him ninth on the all-time list and fourth in Jamaica’s all-time ranking, which Usain Bolt leads with his 9.58 world record.

If confirmed, it would be Carter’s second doping offense. Three years ago the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected his appeal against the sanction he received after testing positive for Methylhexaneamine in Beijing 2008, an infraction detected when samples from those Games were retested years later.

The last time Nesta Carter competed was on March 20 at the Festival of Speed, at the National Stadium in Kingston, where she made a mark of 10.51 in the 100 meters.
