Cars from four different decades will participate in the tribute to Juan Manuel Fangio

Four vehicles from different decades will take part in the tribute to the five-time Formula 1 world champion, Juan Manuel Fangio, which will take place between November 9 and 10, with a caravan that will depart from Mar del Plata to Balcarce, the hometown of the great athlete. The procession will carry the remains of the greatest idol of Argentine motor sport, which will rest in the Museum that bears his name in Balcarce.

With only one month to go before the start of the activities in the “Tribute to Fangio”, the “iron” hearts begin to beat what will be an emotional memory of the greatest glory of Argentine motorsport. Along with the invited personalities, such as the three-time Formula 1 champion, the Scotsman Jackie Stewart; Stefano Domenicali; Oreste Berta; the builder Horacio Pagani; and Nando Parrado, among others, will be the vehicles that the “Master” drove to decorate the tribute.

The Fangio Museum will make four vehicles available to carry out the caravan to transport the remains in their hometown and so that the public can see and admire them at the Balcarce Autodrome on November 10. One of them will be the Chevrolet TC Coupe 39, with which he won three competitions in Argentina between 1947 and 1949, before strengthening his campaign on European tracks. With this mythical red car, with a six-cylinder in-line engine, power of 90 horsepower and 160 kilometers per hour of maximum speed, he competed in Argentina and also at the regional level in the Grand Prix of South America.

The second example will be the one with which he made his motorsport debut in 1938: the Ford V8 ’36. It is a vehicle with a V8 engine, 80 horsepower and a maximum speed of 170 kilometers per hour, with which he made three races between 1938 and early 1939: Necochea, Tres Arroyos and El Bosque.

From the 1950s, and moving on to the European level, the Maserati 450 S will be seen, which will be a great attraction for the eyes of all fans. With this beauty of 400 horsepower and speeds above 300 kilometers per hour, Fangio carried out three classic endurance competitions in 1957: the 1,000 km of Buenos Aires with Stirling Moss; the 12 hours of Sebring, where he won alongside Jean Behra; and the 1,000 km of the Nürburgring.

Finally, the Torino 380 W of the Argentine Mission could not be absent in the 84 hours of the Nürburgring, in 1969, which had Juan Manuel Fangio as sports director, Oreste Berta as technical director, and very talented Argentine pilots of the moment. The Nürburgring, a historic site for the “Chueco” for his 1957 feat as a driver, gave him again the emotions of motorsport but on the other side of the track, cheered by his drivers and mechanics at the end of the race with one of his three cars, with the great task and performance of the entire “Mission” in a competition of extreme difficulties.

This formidable exhibition will be more than nourished by the accompaniment of the clubs and their own historic cars, which will give a striking color frame to the tribute, and which will pass through the Balcarce racetrack track, nestled in the La Barrosa hill. The Tribute to Fangio will begin on Tuesday, November 9 with a press conference in Mar del Plata, where Sir Jackie Stewart and Horacio Pagani, an Argentine constructor based in the United States, will be present, among other luxury guests.
