Corbin Carroll singled with the bases loaded in the tenth inning and the NL West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks rallied to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 on Saturday.
Alek Thomas homered to tie it in the eighth and then singled to tie it again in the tenth off David Bednar (3-1). The infield hit occurred after a bunt error by Bednar that led to automatic runner Dominic Canzone scoring in his major league debut. After Geraldo Perdomo’s sacrifice, Ketel Marte was intentionally walked and Carroll hit his single.
Jared Triolo gave the Pirates the lead in the top of the 10th against Scott McGough (1-6), Arizona’s seventh pitcher.
Pittsburgh starter Mitch Keller allowed one hit in seven innings in his last start before the All-Star break.
