Carlos Tévez announced his retirement

Carlos Tevez confirmed on Friday night his decision to retire from football and assured that as a player he gave “everything he had” in his “heart”.

The now former player communicated his decision in a television interview. “I had a lot of time lost, not being with my family. But now I can say it… I’m retired: it’s confirmed. They offered me many things, in the United States, here too, in Argentina. But that’s it. As a player I gave everything, everything I had in my heart, I already gave it.”he stated.

The player, emerged from the lower All Boys, shone in BocaCorinthians from Brazil, Manchester United, Manchester City (both from English football) and Juventus from Italy, as well as a stint at Shanghai Shenua from China.

He obtained 26 trophies, 21 local and five international, after his debut in Boca in 2001. He was not a champion with the senior Argentina team (he lost two Copa América finals in 2004 and 2015) but he won several titles with the blue and white in youth: he won the South American U-20 in 2003, the Pre-Olympic U-23 in 2004 and the Gold Medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Between 2001 and 2004, in Boca, he won the 2003 Apertura, the 2003 Copa Libertadores, the 2003 Intercontinental (against Milan) and the 2004 Copa Sudamericana.
