Carlo Ancelotti Confirms Neymar in Brazil’s Plans Amid Injury Concerns

Carlo Ancelotti’s beaming smile said it all as he took the reins as Brazil’s new coach. The former Real Madrid boss was introduced by Samir Xaud, the newly elected president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). Ancelotti couldn’t hide his excitement, saying, “It’s an honor to coach the best team in the world. I’m eager to do a great job and make them champions again. It’s a huge responsibility, and I’m thrilled.”

Creating a family-like atmosphere with respect is key, according to Ancelotti. “Winning the World Cup is a goal for the entire country. The unconditional love for the team will help a lot,” he emphasized. The Italian coach also thanked Real Madrid for allowing him to negotiate with the CBF, despite being under contract until 2026.

In his first official press conference, Ancelotti revealed the 26-man squad for Brazil’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Notably absent were Rodrygo and Neymar, but Ancelotti assured that the Santos star remains in the team’s plans. “We count on Neymar in his best version. He came to Brazil to play in the World Cup. I spoke with him, and he agrees,” Ancelotti said.

Key Players Missing

The team will face Ecuador on June 6 and Paraguay five days later. Ancelotti explained that Neymar is still recovering from an injury, and other players like Joelinton, Militão, Rodrygo, Gabriel, and Ederson were not called up due to physical issues. “We need to win these two important games to secure qualification,” Ancelotti stressed.

Ancelotti’s Brazilian Connection

The new coach was welcomed with fanfare by Samir Xaud and Luiz Felipe Scolari, the last coach to lead Brazil to a World Cup title. Ancelotti reaffirmed his desire to win Brazil’s sixth World Cup in 2026. He also revealed that the CBF’s interest in him dates back two years, but he had renewed his contract with Real Madrid at the time. “This year, circumstances were different. We talked, and it’s done. I wish the club all the best,” Ancelotti said.

Ancelotti has a special bond with Brazil, having played with Falcão and coached several Brazilian players, including Cafú, Kaká, Pato, Ronaldo, Vinícius, Rodrygo, Militão, and Endrick. He guaranteed that Vinícius will eventually show his best form for the national team, saying, “If Vini hasn’t revealed his best version yet, he will.”
