Everything is ready for the opening this Wednesday, from 4:00 in the afternoon, of the Caribbean Regional Little League tournament (11-12 years old), a contest that will be held at the baseball complex in Punta Cana, as an option to the BanReservas Cup.
At the event, Samuel Pereyra, General Manager of BanReservas, will launch the first ball and, together with him, a large group of personalities from public life and sports in general will kick off the contest that will award a ticket to the World Series of Williamsport, which this year will take place in August of this year in this city, Pennsylvania.
Starting at 9 in the morning, the teams from Liga Bravos de Pontezuela (Dominican B) and Aruba North LL (Aruba) will meet in Group A, which is completed by Liga Pabao de Willemstad (Curaçao).
On their side, Santa Clara (Cuba) and Liga Pariba (Curaçao B) will collide at the same time in Group B in the other initial match. The other representative of this Group will be the Dominican Eduardo Sosa League.
In total, a dozen games will be played in the regular round, to then move on to a semifinal in which the winner of Group A will face the second place in Group B and vice versa. The two winners of these clashes will compete for the great BanReservas Champion Cup and the ticket to participate in the Williamsport World Series.
On Tuesday night, the technical congress was held in which all the rules of the contest were announced and in which the main delegates of each of the participating groups participated.
The Office of the National Baseball Commissioner, which directs Junior Noboa, is responsible for the assembly and coordination of this international event.
Noboa stressed that they have worked hard to hold the fair and it is already expected that there will be a great and hard-fought competition for the participating teams.
The matches will be televised by CDN Deportes every day at 12 noon.
Opening Act
The inauguration is scheduled for 4 in the afternoon, with the parade of the teams and the intonation of the anthems of the various nations.
Immediately afterwards, Manolo Ramírez, mayor of Punta Cana, will say a few words to the attendees, then Quilvio Veras, National Commissioner of Little Leagues, will give a few words of motivation, followed by Carlos Pagán, president of Little League International, who will speak as a exhortation.
Then Noboa, National Baseball Commissioner will have a few words on behalf of the entity he directs and Pereyra will have the central words of the opening ceremony.
The opening is also expected to be attended by Vitelio Mejía, president of the Dominican Baseball League, Santiago Hazim, Executive Director of ARS Senasa; Edward Guzmán, General Manager of the National Social Security Council; Franklin de la Mota, Administrative Deputy Minister of Sports; Martina Pepén Santana, Governor of the Altagracia Province among other personalities.
