Carbonero underwent a medical check-up and highlighted Racing’s game

Colombian striker Johan Carbonero, Racing’s new reinforcement, stressed this Saturday that the team led by Fernando Gago plays “very well”, after passing the corresponding medical examination after sealing his transfer from Gimnasia.

“Racing is a team that plays ball very well and it’s a great team. I hope it goes well like the other Colombians who passed through the club,” said the attacker. Carbonero, 22, will sign a contract until mid-2026 after his time at Gimnasia. The operation will be done for 3.8 million dollars and Racing will obtain 75 percent of the pass. “I’ve come to contribute my speed, my assists and goals. I’m ready to play from the first moment because I feel good physically,” he said.

The former Eleven Caldas must face an oral trial after being prosecuted for harassment and attempted sexual abuse as a result of an act reported in November 2020 by the receptionist of the hotel where he temporarily stayed after his arrival in the country. Despite the resistance of Racing’s Department of Gender and Human Rights, President Víctor Blanco decided to go ahead with hiring him.

The arrival of Carbonero will give strength to an area in which Racing showed shortcomings during important matches such as with Boca for the semifinal of the LPF Cup, against River de Uruguay in the South American Cup or in the surprise elimination of the Copa Argentina in the hands of of the humble Farmer of Carlos Casares.

Despite the medical examination and the player’s statements, the president of Gymnastics, Gabriel Pellegrino, was surprised because he considers that the operation has not yet been finalized. “Carbonero was not authorized to undergo a medical examination, I hope it was something particular and if he did it, it is a mistake, because there are things to solve,” said the La Plata leader.
