Car free day 2022: Today ‘Car Free Day’ is being celebrated all over the world. According to the ‘United Nations Environment Programme’, Car Free Day needs to be broadcast a lot. Through this we can reduce air pollution. Air pollution is the biggest problem of the whole world in today’s time. Because of this people are getting dangerous health related diseases. In view of the increasing pollution, we should reduce the use of vehicles to a minimum, but it is not possible to do so in today’s time. That’s why Car Free Day is celebrated every year on 22nd September all over the world.

Demand to observe ‘Car Free Day’ for many days in a year

According to scientists, by not driving a car just one day, we can save millions of tons of fuel and heal the planet. Researchers believe that there is a need to have several days like this, not just one day. Because if there is such a big benefit from not driving a car just one day in a year, then it can be estimated how safe our earth can be by celebrating many such days.

History of ‘Car Free Day’

Many informal ‘Car Free Days’ have been organized since the 1990s in countries like Iceland, UK etc. However, the campaign has gone global with World Car Free Day, launched by Carbsters (now the World Car-Free Network) in 2000.

Carbon pollution was reduced by 40 percent

The day was first held on 22, September 2015 in Paris, France. Due to this, carbon pollution was found to be reduced by 40 percent. Governments around the world are motivating their citizens to adopt such measures, which can reduce the damage to the environment. In this, people are encouraged to do vehicle sharing such as bike or taxi pooling. In addition, the use of public transport is also being encouraged.
