The India team won the series by winning the first two India-West Indies T20 matches. In the second match of the series, Virat Kohli pulled Team India out of a sticky situation by playing a brilliant tackle in a time of need. After the team’s starters cheaply returned to the pavilion, Kohli took over the Indian innings and scored 52 runs off 41 balls. Captain Rohit Sharma praised his tackle after the match. Rohit Sharma said: ‘It was a very important tackle from Virat. The way he started this entry took the pressure off me completely. The first two overs didn’t go well for us, then Virat came along and hit some of those shots, which brought relief to the eyes.
The second T20 between India and Windies was very exciting. The Indian team won this match by 8 runs. Batting first, the India team had put 186 runs on the scoreboard, in response the Windies team came very close to victory due to strong innings from Nicholas Pooran (62) and Rovman Powell (68). However, these entries were insufficient and India won the second T20 and also won the series.
After the match, Rohit Sharma said: ‘Playing against these players has always been terrifying. We knew it would be a bit difficult. Under pressure, we execute our plans well. The Bhuvi yorkers and bouncers were excellent. We believe in his talent. Pant and Venkatesh Iyer finished well. Good to see Venkatesh’s progress.
