Canelo Álvarez will undergo surgery in the United States; will return at the end of 2023

the mexican boxer Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez could be out of activity for a long period after announcing that he will undergo surgery on his left wrist, tentatively leaving his return for the month of September.

The Mexican boxer was present during the meeting between Charros de Jalisco and Venados de Mazatlán, where he confessed that he will travel to the United States in the next few days to undergo surgery after hearing the opinion of several doctors.

“After 15 years of my daughter I am going to the United States, I have two other opinions from two doctors and we are going to see what is best for me and do my operation” were the words of the boxer after throwing the first ball in the match.

Think about the rematch against Bivol

Given this, it is practically a fact that ‘Canelo’ Álvarez does not have a fight in the week of ‘Cinco de Mayo’, the date on which he fought for the last two years and which is very important for Mexicans living in North American territory.

When questioned about a possible return to the ring, the Mexican boxer assured that “September, possibly (be my return). Let’s see what’s best.”

Álvarez thinks about a possible rematch against Dmitry Bivol, and even confessed that “I knew from the beginning that I was strong, but I am grateful. I think I must have surgery on my left hand. I couldn’t even grab a glass, I’m a warrior.”

In addition to Bivol, other options for Álvarez are Jermall Charlo, Artur Beterbiev, David Benavidez or Gilberto ‘Lefty’ Ramirez, the latter unlikely due to his refusal to fight Mexican boxers.
