Canceling a contract with a telecom operator can be a Herculean task for some users. But now there is a new platform that promises to make this process easier.
As revealed by ANACOM, the new Electronic Communications Act (ECL)and whose provisions, in general, entered into force on November 14, introduced, among other things, modifications in terms of consumer protection.
Establishes the rules applicable to the cancellation of electronic communications contracts at the initiative of consumers (including termination, expiration and rescission). In addition, it also provides for situations in which contracts may be temporarily suspended.
Contract Termination Platform is your new best friend
For this, the “Contract Completion Platform🇧🇷 At the moment, it only allows the submission of requests for information on contracts, and also requests for contractual termination by consumers.
A second phase will be implemented by September 30, 2023. The platform will then also give consumers the ability to:
- present requests for suspension of contracts;
- submit requests for cancellation of contracts due to expiration or termination;
- Notification of the death of the contract holder.
The platform is managed by the General Directorate of Consumer Affairs
It should be noted that this platform is managed by General Directorate of Consumption (DGC)🇧🇷 ANACOM, for its part, ensures access to the requests submitted by consumers and the responses of the respective operators.
The platform can be accessed directly at www.cessacaodecontratos.pt🇧🇷 But it should also be available on the front pages of the operators’ websites, DGC, ANACOM and the ePortugal portal.
Authentication must be done with the digital mobile code of the citizen card. In a second, you can also use the access data to the Finance Portal.
After any request, a validation of the email address is performed. There you will have to fill out a form with the following information:
- Name;
- civil identification number (for example, citizen card);
- tax identification number (NIF);
- Email address;
- customer number and contract number;
- name of the operator.
Within three business days, the operator will respond to your request using a form specifically designed for this purpose. In that response from the operator there will be a link through which the consumer, if he wishes, can submit a request to cancel the contract.
