Campos Racing, one of the five teams of the new F1 Academy

The F1 Academy, the new women’s single-seater championship that will begin in 2023 and that promises to coexist with the W Series, is gradually taking shape. In its public presentation during the Abu Dhabi GP, the last of the Formula 1 season, it was said that the competition would have five teams with ample experience in F2 and F3 and they have already been announced. Among them, there will be the Spanish team of reference in the categories below the World Cup, Campos Racing.

ART Grand Prix (from France), carlin (From great britain), MP Motorsport (from Netherlands) and Prema Racing (from Italy) complete the line-up of teams that will form a grid of 15 single-seaters, three for each. “They are well known for their experience and knowledge in the training and development of young drivers,” says Bruno Michel, general manager of the F1 Academy, who adds that he is “fully confident that they will give the drivers the keys to grow technically and They will help you on the road ahead.”

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1, who was involved in the launch of this new category, also has a few words regarding the announcement: “We believe it is important that all female drivers have the chance to pursue their ambitions and get the support and guidance they need to progress and excel. The F1 Academy is an important part of our plan to increase diversity and representation in motorsport and we look forward to the first season in 2023.”

All five teams have committed to the F1 Academy until 2025, for its first three seasons. The first, next year, will be made up of 21 races (in seven appointments of three each) and 15 days of official tests, a good number of days to achieve the main goal of creating the championship, maximizing the opportunities for young drivers to reach the highest levels of motorsport. Soon, the women who will drive the F4 Tatuus T421 will be known, among which there will surely be Spanish women.
