Camilo Returns to Central Park Global Citizen Festival Alongside The Weeknd, Shakira

The buzz is real, and the energy is building! Music sensation Camilo is gearing up for a triumphant return to New York City’s legendary Global Citizen Festival. He’s set to hit the stage on September 27th, making it a huge moment in his already jam-packed 2025 schedule. This exciting news comes after a summer where he wowed crowds all across Spain, and right before his much-anticipated appearance at the Premios Juventud awards show, broadcasting live from Panama.

Camilo, the talented singer-songwriter from Colombia, will join an incredible list of stars at the festival. Picture this: The Weeknd, Shakira, Tyla, Ayra Starr, and Mariah the Scientist, all performing for a powerful cause. The event takes place on the iconic Great Lawn in Central Park. It’s all about inspiring people worldwide to fight poverty, push for fairness, and protect our planet, with music leading the way. Camilo himself just snagged his 31st nomination for Premios Juventud, with four new nods this year thanks to his album cuatro. Talk about a banner year!

This upcoming show at Global Citizen isn’t Camilo’s first rodeo in Central Park. He previously played a sold-out concert at SummerStage, part of the Latin Alternative Music Conference, to massive acclaim. Speaking to WWD recently, he shared his pure joy about these opportunities. "I didn’t know it was possible to perform in Central Park, so when I got the call… I couldn’t believe it," he told them. "It’s something iconic. I know it’s going to be something we remember for the rest of our lives." And it seems he was right on the money.

Beyond the big festival news, Camilo has been busy making waves elsewhere. Just this past Wednesday, September 10th, he was part of the Latin GRAMMY® Celebra: La Música de Andalucía event. This special gala, held at the Cartuja Center CITE in Seville, honored the rich musical heritage of Andalusia. David Bisbal and Luis Fonsi hosted the show, which paid tribute to legends like Enrique Morente, Rocío Jurado, and Lola Flores. Camilo, alongside Evaluna, Joaquina, and Yami Safdie, delivered one of the night’s most emotional performances, dedicating their segment to the one and only Alejandro Sanz.

This summer has also seen Camilo crisscrossing Spain, playing to fans in 16 different cities. He’s been treating them to all his classic hits, plus his latest, a clever and thought-provoking single called “Maldito ChatGPT.” The music video for this track is a must-see, inspired by the TV series Severance. It shows him stuck in a gloomy office, battling a digital existential crisis – a truly unique visual for a catchy tune.

Camilo’s recent work hints at a shift in his creative mindset. He told Billboard that he’s moving away from chasing perfection in his art. "Excellence is felt in the final product," he explained. "I have a ‘good enough’ philosophy. If I feel the song is good enough, then great, we move on." He believes the raw, initial spark of an idea is often the best. This refreshing approach might just be the secret ingredient to his continuous success and his growing impact on the music scene.
