Cambodia Demands Independent Probe for Thai-Cambodia Ceasefire Compliance

กัมพูชาเรียกร้องตั้ง “คณะสอบสวนอิสระ” ตรวจสอบการปฏิบัติตามข้อตกลงหยุดยิง ไทย-กัมพูชา

Cambodia has renewed its urgent call for an independent group to watch over a ceasefire. They want this group to check on the peace deal reached with a neighboring country. The aim is to ensure both sides are truly sticking to the agreement. Cambodia says this will bring truth and accountability to the border situation.

On July 31, 2025, Mr. Chum Sounry, who speaks for Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, shared this message. He spoke about the ongoing tensions along the border. He clearly stated the need for an “independent and neutral investigation committee.” This committee would keep an eye on, check, and observe how well the ceasefire is being followed.

Mr. Sounry reminded everyone that the ceasefire was first agreed upon at a special meeting held in Malaysia. He stressed that Cambodia remains committed to international law. They also believe in the important role of regional groups in finding peaceful answers to problems. He then called for the other nation to join in reconciliation. This means working together based on respect, openness, and cooperation across the region.

Cambodia also made it clear they are ready to work with their neighbors and other regional partners. They want to include the wider international community too. The goal is simple: make sure the ceasefire is respected. This will help bring lasting peace back to the border area very soon.
