Ten horses died and about twenty others are in serious condition after being poisoned this Monday, September 20 in Aigues-Mortes, by hay containing a toxic plant, adonis.
“We are helpless, helpless. We see them die and we can do nothing ”, declared Diana Gré, breeder of the herd Gré, to our colleagues in France 3. The herd of this breeder consisted of 46 horses.
In the space of a week, the breeder saw her herd wiped out by a plant, at first glance harmless, and which horses love. This plant with yellow buttons is nevertheless very toxic to equines. Today, it infests pastures and fields, which explains its presence in the haystacks distributed to animals.

Distraught, the breeder called for help to deal with the significant costs generated by the care of sick horses.
