The climate emergency and the ecological emergency are now obvious to anyone in the world who has felt, perceived or observed what has been happening with the seasons for several years in the territory, basin, coast or ecoregion in which they live. of the year and the air, water, soil, trees, insects, fish and other wild animals.
Almost any scholar or researcher on these topics: meteorologist, climatologist, ecologist or nature lover will tell us that these changes in average temperatures and the state of the ecology of the territory occur in all places of the world with varying intensity. ; will tell us that they announce, predict, announce, foreshadow a large number of natural disasters in the coming years, such as: heat waves, forest fires, droughts, temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius, storms, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, snowfall and others unprecedented weather events.
Others who are more knowledgeable will tell us that these unprecedented climatic events are not so natural: they are caused by modern or developed ways of life, and they will tell us that these, in turn, can contribute to a large number of humanitarian problems cause disasters such as: famine, disease, epidemics, water shortages, domestic, school, occupational and urban violence; Misery, migrations, drug addiction, crime, slavery, oppression, insurgencies, militarization, great social unrest, new types of tyranny, multidimensional wars, nuclear wars, mental disorder of the human person, in the world or in countries near our country, or in Mexico .
They will tell us that because of this everything in the world is changing a lot and will change faster in the coming years.
The causes of the climate and environmental emergency
On the other hand, we can confirm without much effort that the governments of the countries that have been among the most powerful in the world: the United States and the European Union, have for many years been very well informed about the effects of the climate and environmental emergency Responsibility that they have in their behavior and their possible consequences.
They know this very well through their scientists and those of other countries – the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC – which is why they have denied its existence for decades: its recognition could be very disastrous for them: they could disappear as states.
They are trapped and cannot find a way out of this existential predicament, so when it comes to these transcendental matters we can expect nothing from them other than denial, lies, deception, simulation and even worse: flight forward through induction or provocation of multidimensional wars or serious impact on the personal security of citizens of weaker countries through their support of organized crime or state terrorism in order to contain the social unrest that could arise from the proliferation of these common humanitarian disasters due to annual extreme weather events.
The governments of other countries in the world also know exactly where the global climate and environmental emergency comes from, but the countries of the global south such as Mexico, due to their extreme dependence on the USA and the EU, cannot agree on the compensation or economic reparations they are entitled to to demand the immense economic, social and environmental damage caused by the annual extreme climatic events they cause, and also to demand the application of the extraordinary measures that are faced with these threats, it is necessary to radically change the way of life of its mentally disturbed citizens change. Instead, they are just repeating the perverse actions they are taking on climate and environmental issues.
In this sense, we can only expect the worst from the governments of countries of the Global South such as Mexico: denial of the existence of these global emergencies or silence on the issue, inaction or incorrect responses to these global dangers and risks. .
There is no sign that Mexico’s political system will fully recognize the need for exceptional measures to address the climate and ecological emergencies in the coming years.
The future in our hands
Faced with this terrible global and national situation, these extraordinary actions, unprecedented, can only come from the people who know in every city, town, ejido, neighborhood or district in Mexico what has been going on for several years happens to the climate and ecology. or the environment of the territory, basin, coast or ecoregion in which they have lived for years.
The comrades of Extinction Rebellion, Scientific Rebellion, Just Stop Oil, Last Generation, Fridays for Future and others in Europe and other continents show us the path of global or international solidarity, just like those who protect the natural wealth of their territories around the world defend or fight to change their existence in their family or territorial community to a less environmentally harmful way of life.
In Mexico, the National Assembly for Water and Life has become a place of articulation of organizations defending their lives and their territories from the expropriation promoted, even painted green, by the powerful. We value and share these struggles, as well as those struggling in your family.
Given the growing number of extreme climatic and ecological events and the humanitarian disasters they cause, we believe it is important that Mexicans, aware of the threat posed by these global emergencies, reach out to the territory’s indigenous, farming, artistic and neighborhood communities , where they live We live to find inspiration for the extraordinary measures we might need to face these disasters.
For many years, these ancient communities have been subjected to the violence of technology and the global economy through innovative, traditional or ancestral artisanal subsistence practices and ancient relationships of solidarity, reciprocity and complementarity.
We consider it essential to create ecological communities, through frequent meetings or intercultural encounters of the basin, coast or ecoregion and the formation of alliances or coalitions of those affected by industrial activities in their area. There is an urgent need to defend the guardians, guardians or defenders of the territory.
We call on Mexican citizens concerned about the climate and environmental emergency to reach out Mexican Movement for the Climate and Environmental Emergencyby the person who shows you this call to discuss what actions we can take together to mitigate the irreversible damage that the collapse of the climate and ecology of its very different areas could have in Mexico.
