Caja Rural is reinforced with the young Fernando Barceló

The Caja Rural team has announced this Thursday the signing of the cyclist from Huesca Fernando Barceló, who returns to the Spanish squad after his two-season stint with the Cofidis team, where he made the leap after the disappearance of Euskadi-Murias. Barceló is the fourth signing of Caja Rural for 2022 after the additions of Iuri Litao, Calum Johnston and Michal Schlegel.

Barceló, winner of a stage in the Tour del Porvenir in 2018 and European bronze under-23 that year, wants to continue his progression in the peloton after being third in the Bilbao stage of the 2019 Vuelta a España and fourth this year in the general of the Tour de Wallonia, staying four seconds from the podium.

In statements collected on the team’s website, Barceló was very excited about his signing. “This is a great opportunity for me, a team with a long schedule where I also know quite a few people. I am sure that from the beginning I feel comfortable working in a good environment, which helps keep the results consistent. I intend to do my best. versionFrom there we will see if that means winning races, helping the team or getting into escapes. I feel that I have a lot to show and I hope that Caja Rural – Seguros RGA will be the team where I stand out as a cyclist “.

Barceló also highlighted which are the tests that motivate him the most and in which he hopes to shine. “Basque races are the ones that motivate me the most, I always feel at home. After spending so much time and running so many races there, they are tests that I really enjoy. Basque Country, Clásica de San Sebastián, Ordizia… There are also races that I know that I also like especially like the Tour of the Alps or Paris-Tours “.
