Caicedo, loaned to Covirán Granada

Barça has made official the departure of Michael Caicedo to Granada. A movement that the Barça sports management had been contemplating for a long time, since Caicedo, 19, obviously had little role in the first team. Not so in the second, but far from the level that a player of his stature is supposed to have. With his march to Covirán Granada until June 30, everyone expects Caicedo to have a relevant role in an ACB team.

The 19-year-old youngster from Mallorca came to Barca youth basketball in Cadet B and He has always been considered one of the great promises of the Barça youth system. This season he has already added seven games with the first team, in a total of 21 appearances since he made his debut in October 2021 at just 17 years of age. During his formative stage he has received various individual awards, such as the MVP of a junior Spanish Championship or his inclusion in the ideal five of the Euroleague Next Generation Tournament.

The departure of Caicedo, a regular in first team training, opens the door for Dame Sarr. This very young 16-year-old Italian shooting guard is already working out with the first team but, not at the moment, he will go from there. He could debut in an ACB game if the circumstances arise but from Barça they want to go calmly. They point out that he is a very talented player but his physique, as is normal at 16 years of age, is still far from that of a professional player.
