Cabral, Miedler Power Into Hangzhou Doubles Semifinals

Francisco Cabral

What a performance! Portugal’s own Francisco Cabral, playing alongside his Austrian partner Lucas Miedler, pulled off an impressive comeback this Saturday. They fought their way into the doubles semi-finals at the Hangzhou tournament. It was a tough match, but they showed real grit to secure their spot.

The European duo faced off against Sander Gille and Romain Arneodo. Things started a bit shaky for Cabral and Miedler, as they dropped the first set 4-6. However, they didn’t let that get them down. They regrouped, found their rhythm, and turned the whole game around. They clinched the second set 6-3 and then sealed the deal with a dominant 10-6 win in the tie-break. The exciting contest lasted about an hour and a half.

Now, the road gets even more challenging for Cabral and Miedler. This Sunday, they will go head-to-head with the Indian pair of N. Sriram Balaji and Rithvik Bollipalli. Cabral, currently ranked 31st in the world for doubles, and Miedler, at number 28, will aim to continue their winning streak. Their opponents, Balaji and Bollipalli, are ranked 76th and 72nd internationally. It promises to be a thrilling semi-final clash.
