Burgos BH has started its participation in the GP Beiras e Serra de Estrela in an unbeatable way, winning the team time trial played between the towns of Seia and Gouveia. In a modality where the work of the entire group is decisive, the seven purple cyclists achieved the best record after the 15-kilometer ride. With a time of 22 minutes and 21 seconds, they beat the main Portuguese teams participating in the event.
The purple runners had gathered earlier this week at the Hotel Ciudad de Burgos to collectively prepare this first stage of the race on their BH time trial bikes. The first to cross the finish line was Pelayo Sánchez, who obtained the yellow jersey of leader of the general classification: “I am very happy for the team. It has been a performance of ten. We have done a great job. Now we will try to defend this jersey until the end”, declared the Spaniard after getting on the podium
Rubén Pérez (sports director): “We had prepared the time trial with great care. We were concentrated in Burgos doing group training on the ‘goat’ to try to achieve this goal. We are very happy. We have worked hard and things have worked out for us. We don’t have much time to enjoy ourselves, since in the afternoon there will be another complicated stage. We are very proud of the team and we will keep fighting. Every year the group takes one more step and this season we continue in that line”.
The GP Beiras e Serra de Estrela continues this afternoon with the second sector of the day. A 123-kilometre stage between Fornos de Algodres and Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, with a final part in slight ascent. In parallel, Burgos BH is competing in the Boucles de la Mayenne. In the prologue held this past Thursday afternoon, Jesús Ezquerra was the best purple rider, finishing 14 seconds behind the winner.
