Florian Wirtz returned to action for Bayer Leverkusen, coming on at 57 minutes, but it wasn’t enough to secure all three points against Union Berlin. Diogo Leite started and played the full 90 minutes for the German side, which struggled to break down the visitors’ defense.
The draw leaves Leverkusen with 63 points, five behind Bayern Munich. If Bayern win their match against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, they’ll be eight points clear with just five games to go.
Andrej Kramaric scored twice in the first half – his goals coming in the 4th and 32nd minutes – as Hoffenheim beat Mainz. This crucial win takes Hoffenheim away from the relegation zone and pushes Mainz out of the Champions League spots. RB Leipzig overtook Mainz in the table.
