Brunson’s Clutch Three-Pointer Sends Knicks to Eastern Conference Semifinals Against Celtics

The New York Knicks have advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals after a thrilling win over the Detroit Pistons. Jalen Brunson sealed the victory with a clutch three-pointer just four seconds from the end, following a brilliant fake that left the Pistons defense grasping at air. The Knicks’ win marked their third straight road victory over Detroit, capping off a 4-2 series win.

This was no ordinary game six. The matchup was intense, with both teams trading baskets throughout. The Knicks dominated early, taking a double-digit lead midway through the second quarter (40-25). But the Pistons refused to back down. They chipped away at the deficit, eventually taking the lead at halftime (61-58) behind Malik Beasley’s six three-pointers in the first half.

A Back-and-Forth Battle

The second half was just as intense. The Knicks regained their composure and pushed the lead back to double digits. However, Detroit fought back once more. With just over two minutes left, the Pistons held a 112-105 advantage. Yet, they couldn’t close out the game. Cunningham and Beasley turned the ball over in the final seconds, gifting the Knicks another chance.

Brunson capitalized on the opportunity, nailing the game-winning three-pointer. He finished with 40 points, leading the Knicks to victory. Mikal Bridges added 25 points, and OG Anunoby chipped in with 22. For the Pistons, Cade Cunningham scored 23, Jalen Duren notched 21, and Beasley had 20.

The Knicks’ win was met with excitement on social media. The NBA’s official X account posted a clip of Brunson’s game-winning shot, captioning it: “JALEN BRUNSON FROM 3 TO WIN IT FOR THE KNICKS 🔥🔥🔥 KNICKS ARE ADVANCING TO EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIS!!!”.

The Knicks will now move on to face the Boston Celtics in the next round of the playoffs.
