Bruno Alves Leaves AEK Athens Role as Strategic Consultant

It’s official: Bruno Alves is leaving AEK. The club announced his departure as strategic consultant and ambassador on Friday.

Alves, a Euro 2016 winner, had already said goodbye to the players before their match against PAOK. All that was left was the formal announcement, which came on Friday.

A statement from AEK

The club tweeted: “AEK FC announces the end of its cooperation with Mr. Bruno Alves.”

In a statement, Alves expressed his gratitude to the AEK team. “I want to thank the two presidents who honored me with their trust, the members of the Board of Directors, the staff, and the athletes I collaborated with,” he said.

This isn’t Alves’ first stint with AEK. He played for the club in 2004, on loan from FC Porto.

What’s next for Alves?

No word yet on his next move, but one thing is certain – his time at AEK has come to an end.

  • Alves won Euro 2016 with Portugal
