Brunei Sultan Hospitalized in Kuala Lumpur Due to Fatigue

Fatigue struck Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the 78-year-old leader of Brunei, as he attended the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur. He checked into a hospital for a 2-3 day rest.

This happened after a big meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and reps from the Gulf Cooperation Council. The Sultan felt tired and took the host country’s health experts’ advice to take a break.

Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim said the Sultan was “a bit tired” and resting at the National Heart Institute. The Sultan had arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, but was the last to reach the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Monday. He looked healthy, smiled, and chatted with other leaders before going into the meeting with Anwar.

The ASEAN summit discussed many issues, including the US trade wall, conflict in Myanmar, and Timor-Leste’s bid to join ASEAN.
