The Texas Rangers announced Friday that they have hired Bruce Bochy as their new foreman. Bochy agreed to a three-year contract that includes the 2023-25 seasons.
Bochy is the first Rangers manager with previous major league experience to take over since Buck Showalter was hired on Oct. 11, 2002.
At 67, Bochy is just one of 10 managers in major league history to have guided his teams to three or more World Series titles. The other nine individuals on that list are all in the Hall of Fame.
Bochy has 2,003 career wins as a manager, which ranks 12th all-time, and needs just 28 wins to break into the top 10.
