Tensions between India and Pakistan are running high, and now the spotlight is on Telangana, where the Miss World beauty pageant is set to take place. K. Kavitha, a leader from the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), has stepped forward to urge the state government to reconsider hosting the event.
Concerns Over the Pageant
Kavitha pointed out that organizing the Miss World competition during such strained times could send the wrong message. She drew parallels with the recent cancellation of the Indian Premier League (IPL), suggesting that Telangana should avoid similar criticism for hosting such a high-profile event amid serious security concerns. “During a war-like situation, it’s not right to host the Miss World pageant in the state,” Kavitha emphasized. “We should act wisely and avoid it to prevent sending the wrong message.”
Supporting the Indian Army
Kavitha’s concerns aren’t just about the pageant; she’s also been vocal about supporting the Indian Army. Recently, she led a massive rally in Hyderabad from Indira Park to RTC Cross Road to show solidarity with the army during Operation Sindoor. The event was also a tribute to soldier Murali Naik, who lost his life while serving on the border. Kavitha praised the Indian Army for their efforts during Operation Sindoor and called for similar rallies to be organized across all districts in support of the armed forces.
