The entertainment world recently felt a quiet sadness with the news of Brandon Blackstock’s passing. He was 48 years old. Blackstock, known to many as a music manager and for his marriage to pop superstar Kelly Clarkson, lost his battle with melanoma. His death, confirmed by Us magazine on August 7, followed a three-year fight against the disease.
In his final years, Blackstock built a new life in Montana. By his side was Brittney Marie Jones, his partner. Sources shared with Us magazine last August that Brandon and Brittney had a loving relationship. His family was reportedly very happy and supportive of their bond. Brandon was a private person, especially after stepping away from the entertainment business. Yet, his family welcomed Brittney into their lives.
Blackstock’s life took a different turn after his 2020 separation from Kelly Clarkson. They share two children, River Rose and Remington. Their divorce was finalized in 2022. Soon after, the former music manager moved to Montana, with Jones joining him.
Brandon is survived by a loving family. This includes his parents, his siblings, and his four children. Besides River Rose and Remington with Kelly Clarkson, he also had Savannah and Seth with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth. He leaves behind his grandchildren and, of course, Brittney Marie Jones.
A Familiar Face in His World
Brittney Marie Jones wasn’t a stranger to Brandon Blackstock’s orbit. In fact, she had a professional connection to his ex-wife, Kelly Clarkson. From 2016 to 2018, Jones worked as a production assistant for Clarkson. Her LinkedIn profile shows she helped tour and production managers with daily tasks. She also made sure the final stage details were perfect and managed local crew and assistants.
Later, from 2018 to 2020, Jones served as an executive management assistant at Starstruck Entertainment. This talent management company was founded by Brandon’s father, Narvel Blackstock, where Brandon himself also worked. A source told Us that Brittney worked with Kelly during Kelly and Brandon’s marriage. This meant Kelly had a lot of history with Brittney.
A New Life in Montana
After Blackstock’s divorce, Brittney Marie Jones moved to Montana with him. Sources close to Us magazine shared that she helped him build his Valley View Rodeo in 2023. Her support was clear, as she became a vital part of his new chapter away from the spotlight.
Honored in His Obituary and by Family
Brandon Blackstock’s obituary spoke highly of Brittney Marie Jones. It described her as his “beautiful and loving partner in life and business.” The obituary further highlighted their shared efforts: “Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving life and business partner, Brittney Marie Jones, began forging a life, creating enterprises, and working tirelessly to found Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will endure as his legacy: The Valley View Rodeo of Bozeman, Montana.”
Brittney’s father, Larry, also shared a heartfelt tribute to Brandon on Facebook. “Yesterday we lost a good man, Brandon Blackstock, my daughter’s soulmate and I considered him my son,” Larry wrote. He added, “My sincere condolences to Brittney Jones and her family. We are going to miss your sense of humor so much. R.I.P., buddy!”
Brittney Marie Jones also formed a strong bond with Brandon’s children. A source shared with Us magazine that Brandon’s kids spent a lot of time with her. They grew very close to her, showing her important place in the family’s life.
