British MP killed in assassination attempt

London: A British MP who was injured in a knife attack died during treatment.

According to British media reports, Sir David Mess, a Member of Parliament for the ruling party, was attacked as he was meeting with his constituents in the church.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailant stabbed the 69-year-old MP several times and he escaped. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a church meeting, which included David Ames.

David Ames was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to hospital in critical condition, where doctors tried their best to save him but he could not recover due to excessive bleeding.

Police say the attacker was arrested and taken to an unknown location for questioning. David Ames’s office also confirmed the attack. David Ames was elected to the House from the South End of East England.

He was first elected to Parliament from the Baselden area in 1983, then ran for office from the South End in 1979.

According to British media, this is not the first case of a member of parliament being killed by a knife attack, but a member of the Labor Party was also targeted in 2010 while he was in his office.
