Breaking: Vitalik Buterin Announces Date For ‘Ethereum Merge’

The ‘Ethereum Merge’ is an event that the ETH community is eagerly awaiting. The Merge has been delayed several times in the past year, but now it has a definitive date, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin tells us

Ethereum Merge will take place in Summer 2022

During the Ethereum Merge, the Ethereum network will transition from a Proof-of-Work consensus to a Proof-of-Stake consensus after a long wait. After experiencing several delays over the past year, Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, today announced the date for “The Merge”.

Speaking at a Web 3.0 ETH developers meeting, he said that “The Merge” is the biggest event in altcoin development in 2022. Ethereum developers have been working on the new Proof-of-Stake system for nearly seven years now and already the work will come together in the summer of 2022.

An Ethereum developer named Preston van Loon announced that ‘The Merge’ could go live as early as August of this year. He said:

As far as we know, if everything goes according to plan, August is a logical date.

He also said that the Ropsten testnet will be merged on June 8.

Vitalik Buterin acknowledged the announcement and said it depends on the issues that arise during development; If all goes according to plan, the summer of 2022 will be the ideal time for the Ethereum mainnet to migrate from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake. Buterin said the following:

If all goes well, the Merger is scheduled to take place in the summer. If there are no problems, the Merger will take place in August. If there are problems, September is possible and October is possible. Ethereum is finally becoming a Proof-of-Stake network.
