In the rapidly evolving world of cricket, players are increasingly participating in international leagues, resulting in new records being set and broken with alarming regularity. This trend has been exemplified in the International League T20 2025, where a notable milestone was achieved in a match between the Desert Vipers and the Dubai Capitals.
The Dubai Capitals secured a convincing 6-wicket victory in the match, but the highlight of the game was the outstanding achievement of Alex Hales, an English player representing the Desert Vipers. Hales scored 34 runs in 31 balls, which included 2 fours and 2 sixes, ultimately contributing to his 2000th boundary in T20 cricket.
Alex Hales’ Exceptional Achievement
Hales’ remarkable accomplishment in T20 cricket has seen him accumulate a total of 1461 fours and 540 sixes. By achieving 2000 boundaries, including fours and sixes, he has become the first English player to achieve this milestone, joining an elite group of players. Before Hales’ remarkable feat, only Chris Gayle had reached 2000 boundaries in T20 cricket.
Gayle holds an impressive record of 2188 boundaries in T20 cricket, consisting of 1132 fours and 1056 sixes. While Hales is now the second player to reach this milestone, no Indian player has achieved this feat in T20 cricket. Currently, Virat Kohli holds the record for the most boundaries scored by an Indian player in T20 cricket, with 1560 boundaries.
Alex Hales’ Team Faces Defeat
Despite Hales’ outstanding achievement, his team, the Desert Vipers, suffered a defeat against the Dubai Capitals. Batting first, the Desert Vipers managed to score 139 runs, which the Dubai Capitals successfully chased, securing a 6-wicket victory. The Dubai Capitals’ triumph was largely due to the outstanding performance of Gulbadin Naib and Sikandar Raza.
Gulbadin Naib’s impressive batting display earned him 78 runs in 51 balls, including 3 fours and 5 sixes. His exceptional performance led to him being awarded the Player of the Match. Alex Hales, who has retired from international cricket, is currently playing for the Desert Vipers in the ILT20.
Throughout his T20 career, Hales has accumulated 13361 runs in 486 matches, including 7 centuries and 83 half-centuries. During his time playing for England, he scored 2074 runs in 75 T20I matches and was a member of the team that secured the T20 World Cup 2022 title.
