Braves win their seventh in a row at the hands of Spencer Strider

Rookie Spencer Strider overcame a turbulent opening, Vaughn Grissom and Dansby Swanson each homered and the Atlanta Braves strung together their seventh win, beating the Oakland Athletics 7-3 on Wednesday.

Robbie Grossman, Marcell Ozuna and Ronald Acuña Jr. also drove in runs for Atlanta, which beat Oakland for the 11th straight time, a streak dating back to 2008.

The Braves began the day tied with the New York Mets as leaders of the Eastern Division of the National League.

Seth Brown homered for Oakland, which has lost six of its last seven games.

Strider (10-4) struck out nine and won his third straight start as well as his fourth straight decision. In his previous outing, he set an Atlanta record by striking out 16 opponents.

The loss went to rookie Ken Waldichuk (0-1), who gave up three runs and as many hits.

For the Braves, Venezuelan Acuña Jr. 5-1 with an RBI. The Dominican Ozuna 3-1 with a run scored and an RBI. Cuban Guillermo Heredia 1-0.

For the Athletics, the Dominicans Dermis García 1-0, Ramón Laureano 4-0.
