New details have emerged about Brandon Blackstock’s health struggles before his passing. A death certificate for Blackstock, obtained by People magazine on Thursday, August 14, revealed more about his final days. The music manager, who was 48, died after a battle with malignant melanoma.
According to the Silver Bow County coroner, his death was due to natural causes. However, the certificate also noted that Blackstock had suffered from seizures shortly before he died. People reported that the death certificate listed these seizures as "significant conditions contributing to death, but not resulting in the underlying cause."
Us Weekly had previously confirmed Blackstock’s death on August 7. They reported he had fought skin cancer for three years.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news of Brandon Blackstock’s passing," a representative for the Blackstock family told Us Weekly in a statement. "Brandon bravely fought cancer for over three years. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
Blackstock is survived by his parents, siblings, four children, and grandchildren. He shared Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18, with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth. His ex-wife, Kelly Clarkson, is the mother of his younger children, River Rose, 11, and Remington, 9. Savannah is currently expecting her second child with her husband, Quentin Lee.
In the years leading up to his death, Blackstock had moved to Montana to work as a rancher. His family has since shared many loving tributes.
Family Shares Heartfelt Tributes
