Brad Keller scores first win since May 3

Brad Keller gave up one hit in seven brilliant innings to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 2-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.

Jose Cuas retired two batters and allowed a two-out double in the eighth inning. Scott Barlow took care of the last four sluggers and earned his eighth save, completing the two-hit feat and giving the Royals their third straight win.

The A’s were shutout for the eighth time this season, losing their eighth straight home game and falling to a major league-worst 22-45 record. Oakland has lost 15 of 17 games.

Keller (2-8) looked dominant in his first win since May 3. The 22-year-old pitcher retired 17 of his first 18 foes and drew three walks to earn his first road win in five starts this season.

The loss went to Cole Irvin (2-4).

For the Royals, the Venezuelan Salvador Pérez 5-0. The Dominican Carlos Santana 2-1. Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rivera 2-0.

For the Athletics, the Dominicans Ramón Laureano 4-0, Luis Barrera 3-1. Panamanian Christian Bethancourt 3-0. The Venezuelan Elvis Andrus 2-0.
