Boy Electrocuted by Mysterious Fabric, Nurse Saves His Life

Electrocution Incident in Totoral del Sauce

A 10-year-old child was electrocuted in Totoral del Sauce, Cannelloni, after coming into contact with a wire carrying 220 volts of energy.

Director’s Statement

Álvaro Galiana, director of Pereira Rossell, described the incident as a “very important discharge” that caused burns on the child’s hand.

Galiana explained that the situation was extremely serious due to the child’s age, health, and the circumstances surrounding the incident. “He was 10 years old, healthy, barefoot, and it was raining, with all those electrified wires. This resulted in the child going into cardiorespiratory arrest,” he stated.

Life-Saving Intervention

A local nurse played a crucial role in saving the child’s life. Galiana praised the nurse’s intervention, saying, “His actions were very good, as he took the child to the Pando Hospital and then transferred him to Pereira Rossell. The resuscitation performed by the nurse during the transfer was critical, as it allowed the child to regain blood circulation and avoid severe brain damage.”

Current Condition

The child, who suffered the shock on December 24, is currently breathing on his own. The staff at Pereira Rossell is monitoring his progress to confirm that there are no neurological consequences.

Galiana reported that the child was ventilated until Thursday afternoon and has since continued his recovery in the CTI of the Children’s Hospital.
