Boxing: Osvaldo Bisbal, historical leader of the FAB, died

The historic leader Osvaldo Bisbal, who presided over the Argentine Boxing Federation (FAB) for 24 years, died this Friday at the age of 71 after battling a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

El Flaco Bisbal is the second weight manager that Argentine boxing has lost in recent months, after the death of the last elected president of the FAB, Luis Romio, in August of this year.

Bisbal, appointed as first vice president in the Ordinary Assembly of the institution, on July 13, had succeeded him temporarily in office while a date was defined for new elections, something that is expected to be in March next year.

The San Telmo club, which Bisbal led between 2009 and 2012, confirmed the news that generated a special impact on the boxing environment on social networks. “Those of us who are part of Arano Box express our deep regret for the death of Osvaldo Bisbal, historical and recognized leader of our discipline. Also our condolences to his family, friends, acquaintances and peers of the Argentine Federation of Box”, lamented one of the main promoters premises of the activity.

Bisbal managed the FAB between 1991 and 2015, a period in which changes were made in this sport, mainly in the amateur field.
