Boris Becker was released and will be deported from the UK

The German tennis player Boris Becker55 years old and former number one in the world, released this thursday after having been detained for the last eight months in London for having hidden his assets after declaring bankruptcy and it is estimated that he will return to his country.

Becker, number one in the world in 1991, He had been detained in Britain’s Huntercombe jail since April serving a two-and-a-half-year suspended sentence.

The German, winner of six Grand Slam titles, had lived in London since 2012 and He was sentenced in April for illegally hiding or transferring hundreds of thousands of euros and pounds to avoid paying his debts.being that he had declared bankruptcy.

In principle, he had to serve half of his sentence in prison, before being able to benefit from a conditional release, but he was released and according to presumed to be deported to Germany.

“The conviction of Boris Becker clearly shows that the concealment of assets in the framework of a bankruptcy is a serious offense, for which we prosecute those who commit it,” stressed the director general of the Insolvency Service, the British government agency in charge of administering bankruptcies.

The German won a total of 49 titles in his career, six of them Grand Slam, in Australia (1991 and 1996); Wimbledon (1985, 1986 and 1989) and US Open 1989.
