Border 2: Diljit Dosanjh Filming Allowed After Bhushan Kumar’s FWICE Plea

A recent social media post from actor Diljit Dosanjh stirred up a lot of chatter. He shared a video from the set of “Border 2,” confirming his involvement in the film. This came as a surprise to many. For weeks, there was a big question mark over his role in the movie.

The drama began earlier, when Diljit appeared in the film “Sardar Ji 3.” He shared screen space with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. This casting choice did not sit well with some groups. Calls quickly grew for Diljit to be banned from the Indian film industry.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) took a strong stand. They asked producer Bhushan Kumar to remove Diljit from his upcoming film, “Border 2.” Despite this request, Diljit remained part of the project. So, how did that happen? We dug into the details to find out what went on behind the scenes.

The Federation Explains Its Decision

When “Amar Ujala” reached out to B.N. Tiwari, the President of FWICE, he shed some light on the matter. “Producer Bhushan Kumar made a special request to us,” Tiwari explained. He told us that most of “Border 2” was already filmed. Only a couple of days’ work was left for Diljit’s scenes. The other actors still had parts to shoot, but Diljit’s work was mostly done.

After several meetings, FWICE understood the situation. They decided to grant permission. Tiwari added that Bhushan Kumar stressed how carefully he makes decisions for his films. He highlighted the production’s need for support. There simply wasn’t another option for Diljit’s role. Other actors considered for the part did not have available dates.

Permission Granted After Bhushan’s Plea

The FWICE president noted that Bhushan Kumar argued the film involves many big stars. Large crowd scenes, including fight sequences, were already shot. Tiwari pointed out that the entire controversy was linked to a Pakistani artist in “Sardar Ji 3.” But “Border 2” does not feature any such artist. So, once an official letter arrived from the production house, they considered it. They gave their permission.

A Promise for the Future

There’s more to this story. Tiwari revealed that Bhushan Kumar has promised not to work with Diljit in the future. “This decision was made in our meeting the night before the shooting,” he stated. “We want to be clear that we will avoid such controversial decisions in the future. We will not allow artists to work on projects that haven’t started yet if they cause such issues.”

FWICE’s Firm Stance

FWICE made it clear why they allowed “Border 2” to go forward. They considered the film’s patriotic theme. They also thought about the reputation of the Indian Army. The presence of other major stars in the cast was also a factor. They decided the film should not be stopped from releasing.

While FWICE granted “Border 2” a pass, they sent a clear message. In the future, no producer will be allowed to work with Diljit Dosanjh. If anyone chooses to do so, the Federation will not be responsible for any losses they might face.
