Bollywood Icon Dharmendra Dies at 89: ‘End of an Era’

Legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra has passed away at the age of 89. The veteran star’s demise was confirmed by filmmaker Karan Johar. Johar shared an emotional tribute on his social media.

Johar described Dharmendra’s passing as “the end of an era.” He honored him as a “megastar” and a “true hero of mainstream cinema.” Dharmendra was also lauded for his “beautiful and most mysterious screen presence.”

Johar called Dharmendra a “true legend of Indian cinema” whose name will “always live on in the history of cinema.” He emphasized Dharmendra’s exceptional character, noting he “was the best human being.” The entire industry held immense love for him due to his “positivity for everyone.”

Johar stated that the industry would deeply miss Dharmendra’s “blessings, his hugs, and his warmth.” He acknowledged that a “huge void” has been created in the film industry, one that “no one can ever fill.”

“There was and always will be only one Dharam ji,” Johar wrote in his tribute. He added, “We love you very much, sir… We will miss you greatly.” Johar concluded by saying, “Today, even heaven has been blessed.”
