The trend of re-releasing old films in Bollywood is gaining momentum. Many films that were Initially released in theaters are now being re-released, and the audience is showering them with love. Some films, like ‘Laila Majnu’ and ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’, which failed to impress when they first hit the screens, are now receiving rave reviews. Another highly anticipated re-release is ‘Namaste London’, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. More Classics Return
‘Fashion’, a film that explores the life and struggles of models, starring Kangana Ranaut and Priyanka Chopra, is also making a comeback to theaters. The 2008 film received widespread acclaim, with Kangana’s performance earning her immense praise. With the re-release of ‘Fashion’, Kangana might just get another taste of success at the box office. Director Madhur Bhandarkar’s film will be re-released between March 7th and 13th as a tribute to women on International Women’s Day.
Kangana Ranaut’s another hit film, ‘Queen’, is also set to return to theaters. The film, in which she played the role of Rani, won the hearts of the audience. Director Vikas Bahl’s film will also be re-released on International Women’s Day.
Other films like ‘Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana’, starring Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda, and ‘Highway’, starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda, are also scheduled for re-release. ‘Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana’ will hit theaters on March 7th, 2025, as a celebration of Rajkummar Rao’s 15 years in the film industry. The Benefits of Re-releases
It’s worth noting that efforts are being made to re-release films like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Hera Pheri’ in theaters. So far, films like ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’, ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein’, ‘Laila Majnu’, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, ‘Rockstar’, and ‘Tumbbad’ have already been re-released and have received an overwhelming response from the audience.
‘Sanam Teri Kasam’, which originally failed to impress in 2016, went on to gross 50 crore rupees after its re-release, making it the highest-grossing re-released film to date. Similarly, ‘Tumbbad’ did a business of 38 crore rupees worldwide, while ‘Laila Majnu’ grossed around 10 crore rupees. ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ also earned 21 crore rupees after its re-release. The success of these re-releases is a testament to the fact that some films deserve a second chance to shine.
