In a recent interview, Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji says that before debuting, she always thought she would never fall into the “heroines” category.
Rani reveals that she was unsure about an acting career in Bollywood because she thought it was “quite short” and her voice did not fit “typical actresses” at the time. She also tells how actor Kamal Haasan helped her break ‘stereotypical conventions’ in Bollywood.
Oddly enough, I never wanted to be an actress. My mother realized my dream before I did. She was the one who really convinced me to pursue acting. But I never thought that I would fit into the category of typical actresses. ”
“I’m actually the opposite of a hero. I am quite short, my voice does not sound friendly, the complexion of my skin is different. When I started, I never believed that I could become an actress. I grew up with Sridevi, Juhi, Madhuri, and Rekha ji. They were charismatic and I adored them. I never imagined that I would be there with them. “
