Sebastian Marset, a Uruguayan national, is the most wanted drug trafficker in Bolivia, accused of various crimes including money laundering, criminal organization, kidnapping, and more.
Hearing Scheduled for July 24
According to Bolivian media outlet El Deber, a hearing is set to take place on July 24, where the Santa Cruz Departmental Prosecutor’s Office will seek to have Marset declared in rebellion and ordered his arrest. The authorities aim to extradite him to Bolivia once arrested.
Charges of Money Laundering
Prosecutor José Luis Flores stated that Marset was charged with the crime of money laundering and was notified through press edicts in national media.
Prosecutor’s Statement
"Mr. Sebastián Marset has been charged to be declared in rebellion, and we are waiting for the hearing on precautionary measures to be carried out so that we can subsequently identify where he is, with the support of the Bolivian Police and Interpol, and then request his extradition," said Róger Mariaca, departmental prosecutor of Santa Cruz, to El Deber.
On the Run Since July 29, 2023
Marset has been on the run since July 29, 2023, when he evaded an arrest warrant and kidnapped two police officers with the support of his armed bodyguards.
