Four people died and at least 60 were injured this Monday in Bolivia after a human avalanche inside a coliseum Tomas Frias Autonomous University of Potosicaused by the activation of a gas grenade.
The president of the university, Pedro Lópezreported that so far the deceased have not been identified and that the institution declared in a state of mourning. “I think that all the people of Potosí are also in mourning for an irresponsible and criminal attitude, on which the law has to fall with all its rigor,” he said.
As reported by the university authority, a student assembly by elections of the Local University Federation (FUL) for the period 2022-2025 when the explosion of a gas grenade generated runs.
The Commander of the Potosí Police, Bernardo Isnado, reported that at least 40 wounded were transferred to the University Social Security and 20 to the “Daniel Bracamonte” Hospital. He assured that they are taking all precautions “so that the person or persons responsible for this criminal act are made available to the Public Ministry.”
