The leader UAI Urquiza and his escort Boca, defending champion, will define the title this Sunday at La Bombonera in a match called to set a new attendance record in women’s soccer in the country. The match, a virtual final but corresponding to the 21st and last date of the tournament, will begin at 3:00 p.m. with arbitration by Bettina Cingari and live broadcast on Public TV.

The local team, the top winner in Argentine soccer with 25 titles, needs victory to consecrate themselves and overcome the difference of two points with which UAI Urquiza arrives on the last day.

The importance of the meeting made the “xeneize” leadership arrange the mythical Buenos Aires stadium, which will have its middle and lower ring enabled, since by disposition of the City Government the third tray will not be enabled. The club expects an attendance close to 40,000 people, which will mean a public milestone for a women’s match in Argentina.

Boca determined a different entry policy than the one that existed years ago in the matches of the men’s professional team. Firstly, it allowed members of all categories (active, domestic, international, life and adherents) to reserve a place in the stadium.

And on the other hand, it enabled the headers for guests at a price of 600 pesos per ticket, which generated a striking demand from the fans, who sold out the lot in a few hours.

The most important attendance records in women’s matches in the country correspond to the friendly Argentina-Chile (15,000 people), played in Córdoba in April of this year, and to a superclassic in La Bombonera, with 5,000 spectators, in September 2019, before the pandemic.

The world record for the public in a women’s match was set last April by a match between Barcelona and Wolfsburg of Germany at the Camp Nou with 91,648 attendees, for the semifinals of the European Champions League.

UAI Urquiza and Boca reach Sunday’s definition as the only undefeated of the season and with very similar campaigns. The leaders (55 points) won 18 of their 19 games with 68 goals for and 8 against; while the Gladiadoras (53) won in 17 games, with two draws, with 69-5 as a balance of goals.

The UAI, five times champion of the women’s tournament, all prior to the start of the professional era in 2020, will achieve a new star with the victory or the tie in La Bombonera. The tournament champion will get a place to play next year’s Copa Libertadores.

The history between both teams counts 27 clashes with a balance favorable to the “xeneizes”: 13 wins, six draws and seven losses.
