Boca champion of the League Cup: thrashed Tigre in the final

A rival blooper allowed him to break parity and a virtue of his own, to define the match. Thanks to an error by Marinelli and a great goal by Fabra, Boca beat Tigre 3-0 -Vázquez put the third on the final- and became champion of the League Cup.
Sebastián Battaglia’s team arrived immersed in doubts due to their soccer level and their uncertain future in the Copa Libertadores, but in the final played in Córdoba they proved superior to those led by Diego Martínez and were able to celebrate the 16th national cup in their history.

by tiger, who saw his dream of becoming champion come to an end as soon as he was promoted to the First Division, fate was not on his side. Not only because of Marinelli’s mistake just as the first half was ending, but because when he played best, even cornering Boca against his goal, Fabra’s hierarchy appeared at its finest.

Benedetto’s goal that wasn’t

The first emotion of the final came after 20 minutes. After a weak start, Boca settled down with the passing of the minutes and even managed to build nice plays after extensive touching. One of these ended with a great definition of Benedetto, but the line judge annulled it for advanced position. The VAR confirmed the referee’s decision, although stopping the game for several minutes.

Ball goes, ball comes, Boca goal

From 30 the development of the party became anarchic. Although Boca continued to dominate the ball, nothing clear could be done. He even got complicated playing too much in his own field, risking being badly stopped. Tigre, for his part, settled for the xeneize proposal and dedicated himself to waiting. The best player of his happened to be Prediger, a specialist in the art of work and win. On the contrary, his midfield partner, Ezequiel Fernández, still hasn’t gotten one.

Thus, with the game without a clear dominator, everything was given for both casts to go to halftime without emotions. But a good climb by Fabra -his first of the game- led to a corner and from there Marcos Rojo rose above everyone to make it 1-0 with the great complicity of goalkeeper Marinelli, who practically lost the ball from his hands.

Tigre becomes friendly with the ball and Battaglia begins to move the bench. While, Rossi saved Boca from the tie after a cross shot from Retegui. The striker whose pass belongs to Boca had another very clear minutes later but Rossi, first, and his own inexperience, later, prevented Tigre from reaching the tie.

Fabra’s goal

El Matador was far superior to Xeneize in the second half, but Fabra appeared. The Colombian took the ball at 67 minutes, advanced several meters without obstacles and when he approached the area He took out an unattainable bombshell that meant Boca’s 2-0. All credit to the left sidewide awake when his team was having a hard time.

The strawberry of the dessert

Tigre was only held by the ropes after Fabra’s great goal. But Boca did not forgive him: at 85 Vázquez appeared with a header and made it 3 to 0 to unleash the celebration at the xeneize bank and, incidentally, take revenge for what happened in 2019, when Matador beat Xeneize in the Super League Cup final.
